Strutton makes progress

Forward on the road to recovery

Charlie Strutton has stepped up his recuperation from the double leg break that he suffered in November under the supervision of club physio Stuart Douglas.

Stuart confirmed in his latest update that Charlie is now doing light exercise, including swimming, running in the pool, and riding a bike.

Stuart said: “Charlie is progressing very well since the removal of the pins that were inserted into his tibia and fibula. Charlie will miss the rest of the season, but I’m optimistic that he’ll be fit for pre-season.”

Meanwhile, Aaron Morris picked up a slight thigh strain during the Chesterfield match that ruled him out for the trip to Burton Albion. However, Aaron has made good progress since and could be in contention soon.

Stuart added that Callum Kennedy has suffered a setback in his recovery from an ankle tendon injury.

“Callum has seen a specialist, and ultrasound scans show that the fluid-filled sheath that surrounds the tendon is inflamed,” said Stuart. “This condition can be very difficult to treat, and I cannot yet estimate when he will return to fitness.”

The staples have been removed from his knee, and he is wearing a knee brace to stop excessive movement of the joint, but Rhys will miss the rest of this season. Rhys Weston is still recovering from the operation to repair his ruptured patella tendon, an injury that he suffered during a loan spell at Sutton United.
