Dons Under-21s just denied a draw
Tom Beere maintained his impressive return after injury with a goal for Wimbledon Under-21s at Oxford this afternoon.
Shaun North’s side suffered a 2-1 defeat, but the Dons felt aggrieved that a late Egli Kaja strike was ruled out for offside after a much-improved second-half display from the visitors.
“We got better as the game wore on after a first 15 minutes when we did not play well,” said Shaun. “But we got to grips with the game after conceding the first goal and we played well in the second-half. We had a goal ruled out at the end that only the linesman thought was offside. Overall, we are doing okay as a team, but we can do a little better.”
The Dons were 1-0 down at half-time and Oxford appeared to have the game in safe-keeping when they doubled their advantage in the second-half. However, Beere (pictured) finished off emphatically after a well-worked short corner routine, before Kaja thought he had equalised, but it was not to be for Wimbledon.
