Volunteer ethos is summed up
Father and son Dave and Simon Peacey showed their dedication to the cause yesterday by making a 224-mile round trip to help clean up the stadium.
Dave and Simon (pictured left and right above) both live in Bristol and their efforts to get to the Cherry Red Records Stadium summed up the volunteer ethos that is so important at AFC Wimbledon.
A total of 58 volunteers were at the Cherry Red Records Stadium yesterday for a clean-up weekend, which included sprucing up the main and overflow car parks, along with power washing areas inside the stadium.
Simon, who arrived with his father at 9.30 am, said: “We’ve been following AFC Wimbledon since the club was formed because we like the story and everything the clubs stands for with it being fan owned. We’ve been helping out at the clean-up weekends now for the last four years.
“It’s an open, friendly club and we’re always made to feel very welcome. As I work in an office it’s a nice change for me to be doing jobs outdoors!”
The clean-up weekend continued today and the club is very grateful for such a good turnout once again. We will feature more photographs of volunteers helping the club on Tuesday.
