Pictures that summed up a magical day in Manchester

Three years ago today Wimbledon clinched a place back in the Football League and the photographs above sum up exactly what it all meant to fans, players and coaching staff involved.

The magic of that day in Manchester will never be forgotten by Dons fans as they have flooded social media websites with their memories and pictures to mark the three anniversary of 21 May, 2011.

The iconic image of Danny Kedwell's successful spot-kick confirming AFC Wimbledon’s place in the Football League after a remarkable nine-year rise is shown above.

Speaking to the official website recently, Danny said: “For the rest of my life and I’m sure when I’m gone they will still talk about that goal. The fans deserved it and I’m just glad that I was the man who got them up. It was the best day out and was everything that you dream of as a kid.”
