Cup tie for young Dons

Ticket details for development match

AFC Wimbledon will be aiming to make progress in the Final Third Development League Cup on Monday evening at Milton Keynes (6.30 pm kick-off).

The cup match is open for both home and away supporters with tickets available on the night. Tickets for the game at Milton Keynes’ home ground are priced at £3 for adults and £1 for Under-18s.

Wimbledon coach Alan Reeves has so far used competitive fixtures to offer vital experience for young players making the transition from academy football and first-teamers requiring extra match sharpness. Under-18 defender Ryan Sweeney (pictured) made his first start in a development fixture at Cambridge on Tuesday.

However, Reeves will be demanding more from his squad after they let a 2-0 lead slip in that match on Tuesday and eventually lost 3-2.

“We have another game at Milton Keynes on Monday, which will not be easy,” said Reeves. “It’s a learning curve for some of these lads, but the quicker they learn the better. They all played well in the first-half, but you don’t play for just 45 minutes and it’s about producing for the full 90 minutes. I always praise them when they do well, but when they don’t perform they need to be told as well.”

Entry on Monday night is via gate seven for home fans only and Wimbledon supporters can enter the stadium via gate one.
