Richard Dorris raised funds for Merton Mencap

Wimbledon supporter Richard Dorris certainly didn’t suffer a case of the jitters from 12 yards on Saturday as he produced a belter of a penalty that even our number one James Shea may have struggled to save!

Richard’s sprint from the halfway line gave him plenty of momentum and Commercial Director Ivor Heller, who had to race from the corner flag to defend his goal, had little chance of saving a great effort.

The half-time challenge at the Wimbledon versus Oxford match was all for a good cause as Richard raised money for Merton Mencap. Richard, who has a learning disability and regularly attends matches with his friends from High Path Day Centre in South Wimbledon, has raised £826 including gift aid, thanks to generous donations from fellow Dons fans.

.Richard's ChallengeIt means that the staging of annual half-time challenges for our friends at High Path has raised over £4,000 for charity. Marie, Warren and Danny donated funds for Comic Relief in previous years. To make a donation to Merton Mencap, click on
