Jake seeks attacking edge

Midfielder strives to add more goals to his game

Jake Reeves believes that AFC Wimbledon’s attacking formation will bring the best out of him – and he is determined to add more goals next season.

The 22-year-old midfielder (pictured) has been a regular since joining Wimbledon in January, but Reeves reckons he has plenty more to offer.

Speaking during an interview for Dons Player, Reeves said: “I moved here because I wanted to play more games and that worked out for me last season. Hopefully, the manager will keep selecting me, but I want to improve and score more goals. I want to do that to help the team and I think how we are playing now is working for me.

“If you look at the right side of our 3-4-3, Lyle Taylor and George Francomb seem to be working quite well, especially when Barry Fuller is joining in. It has not been as easy for Tom Elliott on the other side because he has not trained and played as much, but you can see the signs straight away of what he is capable of.

“The manager has made clever signings and has implemented players according to the way he wants to play. We want to improve from last season, but we do not want to just improve. We want to push on and strive for promotion.”

Reeves has personal experience of the influence that Karleigh Osborne can have on a squad and he added that there is good team spirit in the ranks ahead of 2015/16.

“I know Karleigh from the time when I was a scholar at Brentford,” said Reeves. “Karleigh was playing week in and week out at the time and he was one of the senior players who used to talk to the younger lads. I always got on well with him then and I think he will be a really good signing.

“It was a terrific trip that we had to La Manga. We had time to train and work on things, but we also had banter with initiation songs for the new boys. There were a few good voices among the new players, but also a couple of terrible ones! I think the trip overall really worked for us and everyone got on well, which is what you need at the start of a season.”
