A great day for the club at Wimbledon Odeon

Manager Neal Ardley and AFC Wimbledon supporters were among a 250-plus audience to attend an exclusive preview screening of Paper Towns on Sunday evening.

Staged at the Wimbledon Odeon, AFC Wimbledon hosted the evening due to the club’s connection with American author John Green, who wrote the 2008 best-selling novel on which the film is based.

It was a great opportunity for the club to be at the heart of its community once again and to thank John Green, who has recently extended his partnership with AFC Wimbledon by sponsoring the North Stand, (now known as 'The John Green Stand').

Neal Ardley said: “My daughter has got the book and she loves it, but I did not know what to expect as I had not read the reviews. I had seen The Fault in Our Stars” and this film was also very good. It was really funny and it was great to see loads of Wimbledon fans at the event.

“We are all really proud to have John Green as a supporter of the club. It is great to have someone like John associated with the club for all the right reasons.”

John Green delivered a personal message via the big screen, thanking Wimbledon supporters for backing the film.

The event was attended by Cameron Saunders, who is Managing Director at Twentieth Century Fox UK. AFC Wimbledon Commercial Director Ivor Heller hosted the evening with Neal Ardley and first-team coach Simon Bassey also in attendance.

Twentieth Century Fox officially released Paper Towns in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on Monday, 17 August.

Adapted from the bestselling novel by author John Green ("The Fault in Our Stars"), Paper Towns is a coming-of-age story focusing on Quentin and his enigmatic neighbour Margo, who loved mysteries so much she became one.

After taking Quentin on an all-night adventure through their hometown, Margo suddenly disappears, leaving behind cryptic clues for Quentin to decipher. The search leads Quentin and his quick-witted friends on an exhilarating adventure that is equal parts hilarious and moving. Ultimately, to track down Margo, Quentin must find a deeper understanding of true friendship - and true love.

Paper Towns is directed by Jake Schreier (Robot & Frank), Paper Towns stars Nat Wolff (The Fault in Our Stars) as Quentin alongside Cara Delevingne (The Face of an Angel) as Margo. It is produced by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey.
