An update on young centre-back's progress
Neil Cox today reported that young centre back Will Nightingale has had a successful knee operation and is expected to be back in approximately six weeks.
The 19-year-old academy product (pictured) enjoyed a hugely encouraging spell in the first-team before having to come off injured at half-time against Newport on Saturday.
Speaking during an interview with Rob Cornell for Dons Player, Neil Cox said: “Everything went fine (with the operation), but I was disappointed for the lad. Will has been at the club for such a long time and he got his opportunity for a few games. I think he will be out for around six weeks so we will have to get on with it again.
“Will is another young boy who has come into our squad this season. We are doing really well in bringing these young players through and that’s what we want to do at this football club. Will could have a long-term future here and there are other players who have come through and signed professional contracts. It’s good for us as a management team to work with young players who want to play for this football club.”
All at AFC Wimbledon wish Will Nightingale a speedy recovery from injury.
