Fans club puts on a show

Supporters shine in front of a national audience

Pulling off an FA Cup shock proved just beyond AFC Wimbledon, but it was certainly a night to remember for everyone connected with the club.

In front of the watching nation, our fans club put on a great show for the live TV cameras and a picture gallery above sums up a memorable Monday at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

Dons supporters sang and cheered their team in front of the brilliant “We Are The Resurrection” banner at the Chemflow End and it needed Steven Gerrard to show all the skills that made him a world class player to finally end Wimbledon’s brave challenge.

Also pictured in our gallery are two young Dons meeting England great Alan Shearer with one of them holding an FA Cup Final programme from the 1988 victory against Liverpool. Inside the stadium, the FA Cup draw was made in the President’s Lounge with Cup Final hero Lawrie Sanchez doing the honours.

Both sides were well represented from that epic 1988 FA Cup Final win at last night’s match with Kenny Dalglish and Ray Houghton in attendance for the Reds and Sanchez, Dave Beasant and John Scales for the Dons.

Other famous names at last night’s game included golfer Darren Clarke, an ambassador for club sponsors Your Golf Travel, and American John Green, who backs AFC Wimbledon through his Nerdfighteria philosophy of “Don’t Forget To Be Awesome” (DFTBA).
