Support the stadium bid

12 January 2015

Still a week left to send your letter to the council

There’s still time for you to support the club’s bid for a return to its spiritual home in Plough Lane.

Following the submission of a planning application by AFC Wimbledon and Galliard Homes, fans and supportive local residents can write to Merton Council to endorse the new community stadium plans.

Simply visit http://bringthedonshome.org/planning/to complete a recommended online form or write your own unique letter to the council.

The deadline for sending written support to the council is 2 February and Bring The Dons Home (BTDH) – formed by a group of Wimbledon supporters – is urging you to get behind the bid.

In partnership with Galliard Homes, the club is seeking to build a 20,000-seater stadium with an initial capacity of 11,000.

Plans include provision for 600 residential units, along with retail and commercial space and a leisure club. You don’t just need to be a Wimbledon fan to support the plans. The club and BTDH believe that a new community football stadium will revitalise the area.

Though the plan aims to cater for growing support as Wimbledon progress up the Football League, it would also bring more jobs to this part of Merton and add community facilities for local residents.
