Festival hailed a success

A similar event is planned for next year

Another Ale FC Wimbledon Beer Festival is planned for next year after the tremendous success of last weekend’s event.

Staged in partnership with the Wimbledon Brewery, all three days were well attended, but Saturday, which coincided with the Football Manager Cup against Watford, was a pivotal event for the club.

Bar takings were 25 per cent higher on Saturday than at last year’s pre-season friendly against Chelsea.

There was a fantastic atmosphere at the event and our gallery of photographs (taken by Stuart Butcher) shows Wimbledon and Watford supporters drinking together and Oompah Brass, who provided great music throughout.

Bars Manager Mat Ansell said: “The feedback from supporters was immensely positive and we wish to thank Watford supporters for being such a great crowd on the Saturday. We thank all of our Ale FC Wimbledon sponsors, in particular our partners at The Wimbledon Brewery. Their presence at the festival was well received and massively influenced the successful launch of their beers.

“We look forward to having the Wimbledon Brewery and their beers back here at the Cherry Red Records Stadium next year. We have already started looking at possibilities for staging the event next year and we are working on ideas for this.”

Following the success of the beer festival, the most popular ales will be served going into the new season.
