Promising Wimbledon talents at Merstham
Dons supporters can get their football fix this Saturday by watching AFC Wimbledon Under-21s in match action at Merstham (3.00 pm kick-off).
With the first-team away in La Manga, Development Coach Alan Reeves is hoping that supporters will get down to Merstham and cheer on the boys.
Of course, Merstham FC are great friends of ours from Combined Counties League days and our Under-21s play their competitive home games in the Final Third Development League at the Moatside.
Young Dons with first-team experience including Ben Harrison and George Oakley are likely to feature alongside promising young professionals George Pilbeam (pictured above), Callum Wilson, Egli Kaja and Dan Gallagher. Trialists and Under-18s are also likely to be included in the squad by Alan Reeves.
It will be far from easy for the Dons against a Merstham side promoted to the Ryman Premier League with manager Hayden Bird guiding them to play-off final victory at Folkestone at the end of last season.
Alan Reeves said: “I arranged this match for Saturday on purpose because I knew the first-team would be away and hopefully we will get more fans along. Fingers-crossed that will happen. Merstham did us a favour last season by letting us play our home games at their ground and we will be playing there again next season.”
Entrance fee is £5 for adults with children under-16 allowed in free of charge.
