Support War Child by buying blue & yellow earphones

AFC Wimbledon has launched a 28-day fundraising campaign in support of War Child and the AFC Wimbledon Foundation.

The campaign asks supporters to pre-order a high-spec pair of earphones for £20 that are designed in the AFC Wimbledon colours with a War Child mic. The initiative is focused on raising funds for both organisations, while also raising awareness for these great causes through branded earphones.

A football league team has never before used crowd-fundraising as a method to raise funds for charity in conjunction with a branded product. Asking supporters to pre-order the earphones, which will only be made to meet demand, eliminates the financial risk for charities. When selling merchandise to raise funds, organisations are usually forced to pay up front costs and could be left with excess stock going to waste.

Deviating from the traditional low quality charity merchandise, Wear Your Support have designed and branded high spec and limited edition earphones for AFC Wimbledon. The earphones compete with other branded products on the market in the £20-30 price range.

Rob Williams, CEO of War Child UK said: “We are delighted to have the support of AFC Wimbledon and Wear Your Support through the sale of these headphones. The money raised will go towards helping some of the world’s most vulnerable children, who are facing the most brutal conflicts on a daily basis.

“We will reach them through our child protection centres, through trauma counselling and by making sure they don’t miss out on their education. On behalf of War Child – thank you.”

Ivor Heller, Commercial Director at AFC Wimbledon added: “It’s a wonderful opportunity for AFC Wimbledon to show off what a fantastic community club we are. The product is fantastic in itself and the fact that it supports two fantastic causes just makes it a perfect campaign. We wouldn’t be doing this if we didn’t believe in the quality of the earphones, that’s an important part for it.”

Kieran Loftus, Co-founder of Wear Your Support said “We’re extremely thrilled to be working with AFC Wimbledon raising money for two brilliant causes in War Child and the AFC Wimbledon Foundation. AFC Wimbledon are pioneers in the game and are a true community club making them a fantastic first football league partner for Wear Your Support.”

“Wear Your Support is the first product based crowd-fundraising platform that enables any fundraising organisation to raise valuable funds with no risk and no stockholding. We design beautiful, popular products that raise awareness every day.”

Miles Jacobson, Studio Director of Sports Interactive, who sponsor AFC Wimbledon, said: “They look and sound fantastic, and best of all they’re raising money for two great causes.”

For the first time, fundraising organisations are now able to compete with the buying power of large corporations by using the platform. The launch of this campaign with War Child and the AFC Wimbledon Foundation sees a major step towards the future of fundraising. The aim is for supporters to b able to trust fundraising organisations to provide quality, functional, everyday products that compete with big brands and retailers.

AFC Wimbledon will be sharing the profits of each pre-order 50/50 between the AFC WimbledonFoundation and War Child.

The target number of pre-orders is 500.
