Help land transfer targets

Generous offer from a lifelong supporter

Wimbledon supporters have an opportunity this summer to provide a big boost to Neal Ardley’s playing budget after another generous offer from Club Vice President Mike Richardson.

Lifelong fan Mike last year doubled contributions from fans towards the We Are Wimbledon Fund – an initiative that directly supports the playing budget – and he has vowed to do it again.

“What most supporters want is another top striker to play alongside Bayo Akinfenwa,” said Mike. “We need funds to help us to do that. We are never going to have the biggest budget in League 2 and we need to get good players in to make us proud.

“We get over 4,000 fans to most home games and if everyone donates the cost of a night out then it will be enough to really boost the squad. We have a very good manager and let’s go for it next season.”

The club has forwarded a message from Mike to supporters by e-mail and this is reproduced below with details of how to contribute:

The objectives of the WAW fund are explained here  I am writing to you as a Wimbledon fan to tell you that I am repeating my offer of last season, which is that up to a maximum of £100,000 I will match every additional amount donated by fans to the We are Wimbledon Fund, which aims to raise funds for Neal’s budget.

Add in some of money that the club earned from the FA Cup game against Liverpool back in January and this will give Neal a budget that allows him to build on last season’s progress and challenge for the play offs.  Remember, I’ll match every pound so together we would raise £200,000. Last year we raised over £175,000 and I’m hoping for better this season. That sounds a huge challenge but if everyone who receives this email donates £25 then that will raise £100,000.

Please help by doing one of the following: So let’s go for it!

, or Sign up to a direct debit for a regular monthly amount here

Please put ‘WAW’ and your name on the transfer (unless you prefer to remain anonymous), or  Make a direct payment into the club’s account with the Co-operative Bank: sort code 08-92-50; account number 70606719. 2.

Send a cheque marked WAW on the reverse to the club’s offices at: The Cherry Red Records Stadium, 422a Kingston Road, Kingston upon Thames. KT1 3PB 3.

With your support we can make next season the best ever and sign a pair of strikers who will bang in goals all season.

Kind Regards,

Mike Richardson
