An exciting job opportunity with our academy

The academy is looking for a full-time Lead Therapist with the ideal candidate required to quickly and effectively fit in with our philosophy and culture.

The role of the Lead Therapist is to co-ordinate all part-time therapists across the academy and be responsible for the Under-21 squad’s injury management and return to play. The role will commence in September, 2015.

What does the role involve?

Reporting to the Academy Manager and first-team physio on all matters, the role will be essential to the holistic and multi-discipline approach to our player development. The hours of work will be between Monday and Saturday, depending on the schedule and demands of a professional football club. It will be important for the successful candidate to positively develop the department in-line with our audit report feedback and Football League good practice guide.

The main areas of work will be looking after the medical care of all Under-21 players, and sometimes first-team or Under-18 players, as well as ensuring all provision and protocols are being delivered through the schoolboys section.

The job holder will sit on the Academy Management Team to report and advise on all medical matters at monthly meetings. He or she will also communicate closely with other heads of department to feed into the six-weekly and two annual player reviews.

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is motivated, hard-working and devoted to the medical care of our players. A flexible and pro-active approach is required for the role with a high level of organisation. Experience in elite football or sport is desirable and interacting with young people is essential with a strong passion for improving individuals. We encourage our staff to be open-minded and willing to learn more for their own professional development. He or she must be confident and competent in manual handling, clinical reasoning and injury diagnosis.

What is required?

Chartered physiotherapist and a member of the Health Care Professions Council

IFAS or equivalent First Aid qualification desirable

Valid Safeguarding Children (can be done through the club)

Driving license

IT literacy skills
