Memories of a season that ended with glory
AFC Wimbledon secured a vital win on the road to Conference Play-Off Final glory on 26 March, 2011.
Danny Kedwell (pictured scoring above) struck the only goal from the penalty spot against Rushden & Dimonds after Kaid Mohamed – making his debut – had been brought down in the box.
With eventual Champions Crawley Town having established an unassailable lead at the top, Terry Brown’s men had been left to concentrate on securing a play-off spot.
However, the chasing pack were closing in after the Dons had failed to win in four matches prior to the Rushden game, a 0-0 draw at Hayes & Yeading followed up by defeats to Grimsby Town, Kidderminster and Crawley.
Of course, it all turned out fine in the end though as Wimbledon finished as runners-up and sealed a place back in the Football League with victory against Luton Town at Manchester.
