A year on from glory

6 May 2015

Young Dons have progressed well since

AFC Wimbledon’s young squad clinched the London Senior Cup on 6 May, 2014, and a quartet of players from that winning side have since gone on to make their first-team debuts.

Will Nightingale, Ryan Sweeney, Tom Beere and George Oakley all starred in a 2-1 win against Metropolitan Police at Imber Court a year ago. Egli Kaja, who was Wimbledon’s youngest player on the night at the age of 16, signed his first professional contract recently.

Managed by Shaun North, the young Dons impressed on the night and earned a 2-0 lead through goals from Oakley and Beere, before Charlie Collins struck a late consolation for Met Police.

Seb Brown lifted silverware in his last appearance in a Dons shirt.
