Following the Dons to glory

The best of your Manchester pictures

The years may be rolling on, but 21 May, 2011, will never be forgotten by Wimbledon supporters of all ages as this picture gallery shows.

To mark the four-year anniversary of Wimbledon clinching a place back in the Football League, we asked for your pictures from that day in Manchester and the response has been overwhelming.

The official Twitter account has been flooded with celebratory Dons images and Danny Kedwell, who scored the vital penalty, was quick to show his appreciation by re-tweeting some of the best.

But more than anything, glory at Manchester was about a fans club completing a remarkable rise just nine years since its rebirth.

Graeme Boulton (right in above photograph) is pictured with his father (far left) and best mate Brian Wardell (centre) outside Manchester City’s ground. He sent in the photograph from Perth, Western Australia, after emigrating Down Under five months after that play-off win.

Graeme is planning a trip to watch his beloved Dons on Saturday, 18 July, when AFC Wimbledon host Millwall in a pre-season friendly.

Also pictured in our bumper gallery is Brett Knell “signing” then Manchester City star Carlos Tevez for the Dons! A whiteboard from Terry Brown’s office shows three steps to creating history and a few of our WDON team have sneaked into the gallery!

Our commentary team raised the decibels with news that it was mission accomplished for AFC Wimbledon - and so the celebrations began for Dons around the world.
