Winger aims to gain experience
Winger David Fitzpatrick has today joined Ryman Premier side Tonbridge Angels on a month’s loan.
Alan Reeves, development squad coach, explained: “During his time with ourselves and QPR, David has not had a run of competitive games. He needs to get games under his belt and be up against experienced players and sample the physical side of the game and a change of environment will freshen him up.”
“He’ll get that at Tonbridge,” added Alan. “They play 4-4-2 and I know the manager and talk to him. David may get seven games to play and while we don’t have many matches scheduled at present it’s a no brainer really.”
“I’ll get along to see him and so will Neil Cox and Simon Bassey and he’ll still come in and train with us.”
The 20 year-old made his AFC Wimbledon first team debut last December when he came on as a substitute in the 4-1 victory over Exeter City, at The Cherry Red Records Stadium. He signed a new deal with the Dons in May.
Fitzpatrick, who joined the Dons in September of last year from Queen’s Park Rangers, goes into the Tonbridge squad for the trip to Needham Market and is seen as a “excellent acquisition” by Angels boss Steve McKimm.
