Update on George Oakley

Young striker faces injury lay-off

Neil Cox today said that George Oakley is expected to be out for between six and eight weeks after he suffered a hamstring injury while on loan at Kingstonian.

The 19-year-old striker started his loan spell with a goal in a 5-1 FA Trophy win for Ks at Leatherhead, but his second match against Enfield was cut short and scans have revealed that it is a grade two hamstring tear.

Oakley (pictured) has been back with Wimbledon this week to start his recuperation.

“George did really well in his first game for Ks, but he pulled his hamstring on Monday,” said Neil. “He is likely to be out for 6-8 weeks and it is a real shame for the lad.”

All at AFC Wimbledon wish George well in his recuperation and we hope to see him back in a Dons shirt soon.
