Winger interviewed ahead of Yeovil

George Francomb has thoroughly enjoyed wearing the Dons shirt after making over 100 appearances, but he believes the best times are still ahead of him at AFC Wimbledon.

Speaking during an interview with Rob Cornell for Dons Player ahead of tomorrow’s League 2 match at Yeovil, Francomb (pictured) says he retains plenty of belief that the current squad can rise up the table.

“We are fully focused on the league and players, fans, staff and the board are all pulling in the right direction,” said Francomb. “We want to strive for the play-offs, if not better. We have a great group of players. The manager has brought in good characters and everyone has bonded well. There is a good team spirit this season.

“I have enjoyed every minute of playing here. I have played over 100 games now for the club. I am still enjoying working with the manager and being involved with the journey of this club. We have a strong squad this season and everyone will play their part. Though we are out of two competitions, we also still have the FA Cup and that offered an opportunity to put the club on the map last season.”

AFC Wimbledon are expected to have good travelling support to cheer on the players at Huish Park tomorrow – and Francomb is determined to extend his side’s unbeaten league away record.

“The away fans are always different class for us,” Francomb added. “The supporters get behind us at home games, but we really appreciate the fans who come along for the long trips to support us. We cannot be complacent tomorrow. They may be low on confidence, but we have to take advantage of that and go there full of energy. We have to put pressure on them and we will be going there for the three points.”
