Foundation seeks secretary

18 August 2016

Volunteer to help our charitable trust

The AFC Wimbledon Foundation is a charity which operates in Merton and neighbouring boroughs with the aim of boosting sporting opportunities for people of all ages.

As part of this, the Foundation is looking for a volunteer to take on the role of secretary.

The closing date for this is tomorrow (Friday).

The Foundation’s aims include:

- reducing ‘social exclusion’

- increasing sports participation

- promoting health and well being

- increasing educational attainment and building the skills that are required to find and secure long term employment

The Company Secretary will be responsible for, among other things, ensuring that:

the requirements of Charities Commission are met •

Trustee meetings are properly administered and recorded •

annual returns are made to regulatory bodies as appropriate and in the correct format •

the Foundation’s ad hoc legal issues are addressed in a timely manner. •

It is difficult to be precise about the amount of time the role might take but it would involve, at least, helping to prepare for and attending four Trustee meetings per annum as well as meetings with the Chair and Executive Director from time to time to review legal aspects of the Foundation’s affairs. The successful applicant will need a legal background and be able to familiarise themselves with Charities Law and the requirements of the Charities Commission.

Applicants who wish to apply should write to Kay Skelton, the Foundation’s Executive Director, asking for a copy of the job description via the following e-mail address: kay.skelton@afcwimbledonfoundation.org.uk  .

Applications should be made by Friday.
