Francomb on the way back

8 August 2016

Winger edges closer to first-team return

George Francomb today joined in full training for the first time after over three months out due to injury.

Speaking during an interview for Dons Player, Neil Cox confirmed that the 24-year-old wide man is making good progress after a knee injury that required an operation towards the end of 2015/16.

“George has trained for the first time today,” said Neil. “He had been doing a lot of running behind the scenes with Jason Moriarty. George has trained this morning and he looks sharp.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Dan Gallagher has started a one-month loan at Kingstonian – and Neil Cox believes it is exactly what he needs at this stage of his career.

“Dan needs to step-up and play men’s football,” added Neil. “Tommy Williams (Kingstonian manager) used to play in midfield and he will look after Dan. Last year Joe McDonnell and David Fitzpatrick went out on loan and they both did well, now it is Dan’s turn. It will be good for Dan to get experience and play in games when the points really matter, rather than for the Under-21s.”

A full interview with Neil Cox, including an update ahead of the EFL Cup tie at Peterborough United, is now on Dons Player.
