Returning wide-man completes 60 minutes
George Francomb stepped up his fitness by coming through an hour for the development squad at Luton this afternoon.
The winger, who was an unused substitute for the first-team against Bolton on Saturday, made a return to match action after being out since April with a knee injury.
Coach Alan Reeves said: “George was fine and he had a good run-out for an hour. He was blowing a bit when he came off, but that’s understandable because he hasn’t played since the end of April.”
The young Dons were beaten 3-0 by Luton this afternoon after a first-half that Alan was far from pleased about.
“In the first-half we showed them too much respect,” said Alan. “They had too much of the ball as we never put them under enough pressure. It was 2-0 at half-time and I told the boys that they must improve in the second-half. We did do that as they only scored a third right at the end.
“Luton had a good squad, but we’ve got some talented players too. Apart from George Francomb and George Oakley, all of our outfield players were scholars or first-year Under-18s.
“I said afterwards that it’s only pre-season, but the first-half performance cannot be replicated when the season gets underway.”
Under-18 right-back Osaze Urhoghide came in for his first start at development level in a youthful Dons defence.
