Strong squad to face Wigan

22 August 2016

Just £5 for adult tickets at Tuesday night game

Alan Reeves has confirmed that his squad will be boosted by several first-team players for tomorrow night’s Premier League Cup tie against Wigan.

The Dons play in the qualifying round of the competition for Under-23s at the Cherry Red Records Stadium (7.00 pm kick-off) with supporters welcome to attend.

George Francomb, Jon Meades, Tom Beere, Dominic Poleon (pictured), Will Nightingale, David Fitzpatrick and James Shea are all pencilled in with the aim of enhancing their match fitness.

Alan Reeves said: “I’ve explained to younger lads in our squad that a few of them are going to miss out on this occasion. It’s just coincidental that for this match several first-teamers need to get minutes. You are allowed to select three outfield players older than 23, but only George and Jon are over age. The development squad is about bringing young players through, but it also serves the first-team and players need to get minutes.

“If we can progress in this competition we can get some great games in it. Last season we got beat in extra-time by Plymouth, but the season before we had a great result against AFC Bournemouth and then played Charlton. Tomorrow’s game comes in a week when the first-team don’t have a game and it will be good for us to play at the main ground in front of our own fans.”

Admission prices are £5 for adults with free entry for Under-18s.
