Another FA Youth Cup run gathers pace
AFC Wimbledon Under-18s secured an FA Youth Cup fourth round tie at home to Hull City with a brilliant victory at Huddersfield Town today.
On a proud day for our academy, Wimbledon’s young talents showed great character to come from behind and earn a 2-1 win at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Cedwyn Scott put the hosts ahead early on and the Dons needed a brilliant save from Joe Bursik to go in just 1-0 down at the break.
The Dons appeared to be heading out as the match entered its final stages, but defender Nick Akoto changed all that by firing home from 12 yards with four minutes left after Huddersfield had failed to clear a corner.
However, there was still a dramatic conclusion to come with Anthony Hartigan (pictured) striking home a penalty after he had been brought down in the box himself.
All at AFC Wimbledon wish to congratulate the Under-18 squad and staff on a brilliant success in the competition.
A full report from Huddersfield will follow tomorrow on the official website.
