In memory of Eddie Bailham

21 December 2016

Former Dons player was renowned for his goals

The club is very sad to hear that former Wimbledon striker Eddie Bailham has passed away and we wish to send our condolences to his family.

Eddie was revered for his goalscoring exploits during five years with Wimbledon from 1967 until 1972.

Wimbledon pulled off a transfer coup to sign Eddie, who had been Southern League Premier Division top scorer in 1966 with Worcester City, and he was even capped once by the Republic of Ireland.

The man born in Dublin continued to bang in the goals at Wimbledon and his contribution helped the club finish as Southern League runners-up in 1968/69 and Southern League Cup winners in 1969/70.

Eddie, who also played for Cork Hibernians, Shamrock Rovers, Cambridge City, Bexley United, and Chesham United, passed away at the age of 75 on Sunday.

A full tribute to Eddie will appear in an AFC Wimbledon programme in the near future.
