Tickets left to cheer on Dons in FA Youth Cup
Barry Fuller has a special affection for the FA Youth Cup and he will be getting fully behind AFC Wimbledon’s young crop in next Tuesday’s last-16 tie against Chelsea.
The Wimbledon captain and his team-mates will be interested spectators at the Cherry Red Records Stadium as the Under-18s aim to pull off their biggest victory yet in this season’s competition after beating Watford and Newcastle United.
Fuller, who reached the semi-final of the FA Youth Cup with Charlton Athletic as a youngster, said: “It is great to see our boys on a big run in the FA Youth Cup. For their spirits and future careers, it’s a nice competition to go far in. This is brilliant for the club too because it shows we have a good youth system here and what we are trying to do for the future.
“Hopefully against Chelsea we can get the right kind of result. The first-team boys are going to come down because we decided we wanted to support the youth team. It would be great if they can put on a good show for everyone.”
Seat and terrace tickets are currently still available for next Tuesday’s game (7.05 pm kick-off).

Going far in the FA Youth Cup proved to be a good grounding for 31-year-old Fuller, who enjoyed a promotion with Gillingham, and has made over 350 league appearances, including over a century for Wimbledon.
“I got to the semi-final of the FA Youth Cup with Charlton,” recalled Fuller. “We drew 1-1 at the Valley, but lost 2-0 at Man United. It was great because I got to play at top grounds, including Elland Road and Old Trafford. It was a strong academy set-up at Charlton and our side had been together since Under-13s. They signed 10 of us up on YTS forms and we went onto have a great run in the competition. It means a lot to you when you are that age.”
