Staff rally around Oakley

Young striker suffers injury blow

Neal Ardley today wished George Oakley well in his recuperation after the Dons youth product suffered an injury setback.

The manager said that staff and players have rallied around to pick-up Oakley’s spirits after an injury that required an operation.

Speaking during an interview for Dons Player, Neal Ardley said: “In training last Saturday George went in for a tackle and heard a crack and he has ended up with a bad break of his ankle. An X-ray yesterday showed that he needs an operation and a pin put in it. He is a bit down about it, but all the staff rang him up and texted him yesterday.

“Stuart Douglas will update us about how the operation went. It’s a big blow for George, but we just have to pick him up now and focus on a plan for him going forward.”

AFC Wimbledon wish George all the best in his road to recovery.
