"I'm a local boy so it's good to come down and speak to some of the young children and tell them what it's like to get involved in football," added Nightingale, a “Home Grown and Hungry” product of AFC Wimbledon Academy.

“It's fantastic to come down to these type of events and try to inspire kids to get into sport," said Charles. "It's always nice to try and add some value to their lives and hopefully inspire them to go on and make a career in football themselves."

Junior Hayden, Head of PE at Ark Putney Academy said: "It was great to have AFC Wimbledon players and foundation coaches down with us at our grand opening. The coaching staff worked with our year seven and eight boys and girls, who had a wonderful experience. They were given coaching and had the opportunity to ask the players questions as well as photo opportunities. It was thoroughly enjoyable."

AFC Wimbledon Foundation coaches were also there and gave coaching sessions to the pupils.   .  Will and Darius  The two centre-backs are currently preparing for the Dons debut season in League One, beginning next month, but took time to attend the event celebrating the renovation of facilities.
