Community event at the club on 2 August
Wimbledon supporters are welcome to watch Neal Ardley putting his squad through their paces just four days before the English Football League One campaign gets underway.
The club will once again be hosting an open training session just before the season starts and this year it takes place on Tuesday 2 August at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.
Last year it was a tremendous community event and we are hoping it will be even better this time around.
AFC Wimbledon Foundation Executive Director Kay Skelton said: “It was amazing last year as we welcomed over 300 fans on the day. We are hoping to build on that with fans of all ages invited to support Neal and his players just four days before they start a new challenge after last season’s fantastic promotion.
“The Foundation will be running plenty of activities for children and the summer holiday course at Wimbledon Park will be transferred over here for the day. We are hoping to put on the best open training day ever!”
First-team training will be staged on the pitch for supporters to take a look at AFC Wimbledon’s preparations for 2016/17 (the picture above shows Neil Cox, Paul Robinson and Will Nightingale taking part in last season’s open training session). The bar will be open with food and refreshments also available.
More details about the event, including timings, will follow in due course.
