First-team start pre-season training after promotion success

AFC Wimbledon’s first-team squad were back in the old routine today as pre-season training got underway, but it was the start of a fresh challenge for our four new signings.

Dominic Poleon, Dean Parrett, Chris Whelpdale and Ryan Clarke (pictured left to right above) took a full part and they sported AFC Wimbledon’s new training kit, which was launched yesterday.

The picture gallery above shows Ryan being put through his paces by ‘Bayzo’ on his first day and our other new recruits joining in.

Assistant manager Neil Cox said: “Today was more about getting organised and welcoming the new faces in. We made sure that the new lads got introduced to everybody and that they also knew the rules, but we also helped them settle in as much as possible. We had a light training session today, just to get their legs going, but it will be a harder day tomorrow.

“It was brilliant yesterday for all the boys to come together and celebrate with the supporters. An unbelievable amount of people turned up and it was great to see. That’s last season now though and our new season started today. We are now focusing on what we want to do for the season coming up. You cannot look back in football. Now we are focused on the next five weeks of pre-season.”

The picture gallery above also shows Lyle Taylor showing his quality from 12 yards with an expertly taken penalty and new goalkeeper Ryan Clarke with a smile on his face during his first training session with the club.
