Ade departs for Scotland

Striker joins Partick Thistle

Ade Azeez has today signed for Scottish Premier League club Partick Thistle.

The 22-year-old striker spent two seasons with AFC Wimbledon and his stay here ended on a high when he helped the Dons to League 2 play-off glory at Wembley.

Neal Ardley said: “We offered Ade a new contract, but he has chosen to seek a fresh start elsewhere.  It’s good that his last act as an AFC Wimbledon player was to win the penalty that sealed victory in the play-off final to help us into League 1. We wish Ade well in Scotland.’

Ade, who joined Wimbledon after leaving Charlton Athletic two years ago, made his Dons debut as a substitute in the 1-0 win at Luton Town on 16 August 2014. His goal haul of six in his first season included the equaliser in a 3-2 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy win at Milton Keynes.

In all competitions, Ade played 96 times for Wimbledon, scoring 14 goals, the pacy striker becoming known for his impressive cameo appearances off the bench.

All at AFC Wimbledon thank Ade for his contribution to the club and wish him success in his future career.
