American sponsor interviewed at club celebrations

John Green’s mission to cheer on AFC Wimbledon at Wembley paid off in style after a whirlwind 36 hours and the American spoke passionately about his love for the Dons before heading back home.

with our valued sponsor and captain Barry Fuller is now on our official You Tube channel and it concludes with the pair singing "We Are Going Up!"interviewAn entertaining

During the chat with WDON’s Rob Cornell, world-renowned author John talked about what Wimbledon’s success meant to him after a hectic 36 hours that involved attending the Indianapolis 500, before a transatlantic flight to watch the Dons at Wembley.

“The night after the semi-final we figured out how we were going to do it, including who was going to stay at home with the kids,” said John. “To get a call from my wife right after the final ended meant the world to me. She had been watching at home and she knew how much it meant to me and to the community.

“AFC Wimbledon is a story of community triumphing over commerce. It’s a story of actual people mattering, more than outsiders claiming it is not in the wider interests of football. That’s what has been so powerful to me about the club. It’s unbelievable to go up to League 1 and I am so thrilled for the club. The whole thing is amazing and I am so grateful to have been at Wembley.”

John Green celebrated the triumph with fans back at the club on Monday evening, joining captain Barry Fuller and the players with the League 2 Play-Off trophy.

Barry said that his family are big fans of John’s books and he praised his support for the club, which involves sponsoring a stand.

“People like John are gripped by how this club got started,” said Barry. “This guy is massive in the work that he does. My family love his books and films – my wife does not shut-up about the books! John has played a big part in our club as his donations have helped to build the squad so I say a massive ‘well done’ to him too.”
