A message from the We Are Wimbledon Fund group

Following the club’s superb achievement in reaching the third tier of English football after reforming 14 years ago, the We Are Wimbledon Fund has put together the following message:

Dear Wimbledon Fans,

I trust you are all still smiling! What a phenomenal time to be a fan of our great club. There is no doubt in my mind that the magnitude of all we have achieved has been enhanced enormously by the fact that AFC Wimbledon is our club; built, run and funded by supporters. Simply fantastic.

A few people might say we were lucky. Well, if as the quote goes, 'Luck is the residue of hard work and planning' then yes we are indeed very lucky!  And the planning of our next stage of 'luck' was in full swing well before the final whistle on Monday. That plan is now a reality and we have to address some of the harsh realities promotion brings in this wonderful sea of positivity and opportunity.

To state the most obvious two which will resonate with everyone. Our ground is very small and therefore our opportunities to increase revenue from match days are limited. On top of that the playing costs increase, meaning even more miracles being required from the management team to build a competitive squad for League One.

So, to put it bluntly, the club needs more help. There are so many of us contributing so much already, in so many different ways and yet the more successful we become, the greater the need for participation by all of us. Many volunteer precious time and skills. Lots of you are already contributing to the We Are Wimbledon Fund but to those of you who are able and willing, we are appealing to you loudly and clearly to please consider what you can do to help drive our playing budget forward.

If you are contributing already to WAWF can you do a little more? If you are not yet contributing, could you? Again, there are no minimum or maximum direct debits but anything you can do is hugely welcome. It could be the difference between relegation and survival. As 'We Are Wimbledon", it might just even be the difference between being promoted or not!!!

We will be stretched financially to keep progressing for as long as we can't fit many people into our stadium. So, please, give this some careful thought.

We are passionate and unwavering in our belief that if we want to be competitive we have to contribute financially as a fan base to help make that happen. ‎There are no palatable short cuts at this time.

with details and a member of the WAWF organising team will let you know how to do this.info@wearewimbledonfund.com  and complete the short direct debit form. If you would like to change your direct debit amount or make a one-off donation, please send an e-mail to  websiteIf you would like to contribute for the first time please visit the

THANK YOU
