Jeff's March concludes from the club to iconic stadium

Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling this morning set off from AFC Wimbledon on the final leg of his charity challenge – and there was an extra spring in the step for walkers with the £250,000 mark having been reached.

Jeff was joined on the final 42km leg from the Cherry Red Records Stadium to Wembley by former Wimbledon player Dennis Wise and ex-England internationals Trevor Sinclair and Chris Powell.

AFC Wimbledon to Wembley is the final leg of 10 walking marathons in 10 days, taking in selected football clubs around the country with the challenge passing through Brentford, Fulham, Chelsea and QPR today.

Jeff Stelling said: “I would just like to say thank you to everyone for coming along. Without the support we’ve received along the way, we just would not have got through it. After the first, second and third day, to say we would get here today we would have said ‘no chance whatsoever!’ People like you have kept us going and that has been fantastic. This is the home straight, which is great. Unfortunately, it is a 26.2 mile home straight, which is not so great!”

This morning’s early breakfast at the club was well attended by Dons supporters with Jeff and around 100 walkers given a great send off on their final leg.

Ivor Heller said: “On behalf of AFC Wimbledon I want to thank everyone for coming together here today. We are a fans club and there are a lot of fans from different clubs here today. Prostate Cancer is a fantastic charity and well done to all the volunteers and everyone who has supported such a great cause.”
