The best Vintage Day yet

8 March 2016

Superb event in prospect this Sunday

AFC Wimbledon’s eighth “Rockin’ Good Vintage All Dayer” will be staged this Sunday – and the event promises to be bigger than ever.

Held at the Cherry Red Records Stadium, it’s expected to be the highest turnout yet, both in terms of classic cars and people attending the event.

Below, commercial executive Jim Piddington runs us through entertainment on the day.

Three rooms of “Vintage Heaven” await with a beauty parlour, market hall and a rock and roll music room, including a 1950s style tea room, and there’s plenty more going on too.

The Beauty Parlour

Once you’ve gone through the market hall and bought your new outfit and had your hair done, you can get your picture taken by our photographer. Your coloured print will be available in minutes to remember the day.  There is also our 50s styled barber so you can get your haircut like some of those 50s icons. A hairdresser and make-up artist will make you look like you just stepped out of a 50s Hollywood movie.

Market Hall

Over 30 stalls will be here selling everything from 50s homewares to Men’s and Ladies vintage garments and accessories to go with any outfit.

Music Room

Mark Keely’s “Good Rockin Tonight” will be playing two live sets accompanied by our DJs, who will keep you jiving, strolling and bopping all afternoon.

Catering

There will also be some Vintage Ales for you to try with drinks that were popular in the 50s.  Have no fear, we have “Shakey’s 50s airstream Diner” on hand with their excellent selection of burgers and hot dogs as well as our very own tea room where you can sit and have a cup of tea or coffee and indulge in some lovely cakes and treats. Feeling a bit peckish?

“Mr & Miss Vintage” competition

All you have to do is turn up in your finery and we will photograph you, upload the picture to the rocking good vintage alldayer Facebook group, and the one Miss or Mr who gets the most likes will win tickets to our rock and roll club nights. There is even a chance to enter the “Mr & Miss Vintage” competition.

All in all, it looks like being a fabulous day so come on down from 11.00 am to see what’s going on.

The car park will be humming to the sound of V8 engines as some of the nicest classic 50s American cars and hot rods will be on show.

The club is looking for a couple of stewards to help on the day so if you are interested in helping please call 020 8247 9918 or e-mail jim.piddington@afcwimbledon.ltd.uk  .
