Will returns to training

23 March 2016

Defender steps up his recovery

Will Nightingale is back in full training after six months out with a knee injury and Neal Ardley said he could be back before the end of the season.

The Dons academy product has not played since 19 September against Notts County, but he has made good progress in recent weeks.

Speaking during an interview for Dons Player, Neal Ardley said: “Will has been back training, which is ahead of schedule. We thought it would be right at the end of March or start of April, but he has been back joining in. He is going to get some soreness and stiffness, but if we can get him up to speed we may have a player for right at the back end of the season. I tried to say to Will yesterday ‘welcome back, please go easy’, but I’m not sure he knows how!”

Meanwhile, midfielder Connor Smith is back doing running after suffering a thigh injury in the defeat at Bristol Rovers earlier this month.

A full update from Neal Ardley ahead of Hartlepool United will be on Dons Player later this afternoon.
