Update on George Oakley

5 May 2016

Young striker takes stride forward after being out since January

Neal Ardley has issued an upbeat bulletin on the progress of George Oakley as the 20-year-old continues his recuperation from a broken leg.

Dons academy product Oakley has made just one first-team appearance this season after an injury-hit campaign, but he had an operation to remove a pin in his leg earlier this week and Neal believes there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

Speaking during an interview for Dons Player, Neal Ardley said: “He has had a pin taken out and it just part of the stages he had to go through because it was a bad break. From what we are hearing, it has all healed well and it’s all systems go to try and get him back around the pre-season period.

“George has missed a lot of time through injury, but hopefully next season we can give him more coaching and more game-time, even if it’s going out on loan. He has some good qualities and we just have to try our best to take him to the next level.”

The full update from Neal Ardley is now on Dons Player, along with an interview with Barry Fuller.
