Neal forms plan for Will

Manager says that defender is a part of the future

Neal Ardley said that a loan spell for defender Will Nightingale may be the best option for his future development as an AFC Wimbledon player.

The 21-year-old’s only first-team appearance so far this season was in the Checkatrade Trophy and Neal is eager to get Will playing regularly.

Speaking during an interview for Dons Player, Neal said: “We’ve had a good chat with Will and we are looking at various options. We signed Chris Robertson with one eye on Will’s development. We want to make sure that he gets his development progressed over the coming months. He needs games because his body needs to cope with games after the injuries he had. Will also needs experience of playing week after week.

“We are in transition ourselves at first-team level with a new league and it is probably a good time to try and do that (a loan) for Will because we do see him as a massive part of our future.”

Full interviews with Andy Barcham and Neal Ardley are now on Dons Player.
