Over 100 volunteers attend trip to Swindon

Chief Executive Erik Samuelson thanked dedicated volunteers for all their hard work throughout the season at an event yesterday that summed up what AFC Wimbledon is all about.

The Annual Volunteers’ Away Day was attended by 105 supporters, who enjoyed a free pre-match meal, ticket for the game, and free travel, thanks to sponsorship from Cherry Red Records.

Erik said: “Many thanks to all of the volunteers. We are almost unique in having a group of volunteers that includes supporters from other clubs too! Every year they come to the stadium work weekend and that is an extraordinary thing to do. If and when we get to make this film about the club, the extras should be our volunteers so hopefully some of you will be in it!”

Father-and-son Dave (Cheltenham fan) and Simon Peacey (Bristol Rovers fan) were the supporters of other clubs that Erik was referring to in his speech.

Club Vice President Iain McNay, Founder of Cherry Red Records, handed out ‘goodies’ after the lunch with free music albums given out to supporters.

An in-depth feature on yesterday’s event will appear in the match programme for our last game of the season against Oldham Athletic.
