First-team thank volunteers

12 April 2017

Important work behind-the-scenes from fans is recognised

First-team players have been quick to pay tribute to the dedicated work of supporters at our club, ahead of the annual volunteers’ away day on Friday.

Sponsored by Cherry Red Records, the event on Friday recognises the Wimbledon fans who give up their time for nothing – and saves thousands of pounds for the club every year.

Darius Charles said: “I want to say a massive thank-you to the volunteers around the club. Without you guys, what we’ve done would not have been possible.”

Jon Meades was also full of admiration for the work put in by volunteers during 2016/17. “Thank-you to all the support you’ve given us throughout this season,” said Jon. “What you do behind-the-scenes throughout the week and on match days is amazing and I cannot wait to see you all on Friday.”

Adding his thoughts, Andy Barcham said: “I want to say thank-you to all the volunteers who have helped out the club. There is a lot of hard work behind-the-scenes that goes unnoticed. It is taken for granted at other clubs, but here everyone is helping out and that’s a testament to them. It is what this club is all about so I want to thank all those volunteers who give up their time to help the club.”

Volunteers will enjoy free travel to the game at Swindon, a pre-match meal, and a match ticket to the game, thanks to Cherry Red Records.
