Manager: it is what this club is all about

Neal Ardley has paid a special tribute to the volunteers who have worked tirelessly over the years to help push AFC Wimbledon forward.

Tomorrow’s game at Swindon is the annual volunteers’ away day, an occasion when the club rewards supporters for giving up their time for free.

Speaking during an interview for our official You Tube channel, Neal said: “It is great that the volunteers get rewarded and I really hope that the boys can put in a performance that matches the dedication they show for the club.

“I think the players realise it more than ever, particularly this group, who have been here for a while. They have seen it with their own eyes and it shows what this club is all about. We would not have got to where we are without people being able to do that sort of work in the last 14 years or so. That can help the club continue to grow.

“We cannot afford to have a massive staff rota and that is when you need these people to come in and do the jobs. They do not always do the most pleasant of jobs and the ones that get the most credit, but they do them and they don’t moan about it. It is their club and they want it to do very well. For that, I can only applaud them and be proud of what they’ve done.”

Tomorrow’s Volunteers’ Away Day, sponsored by Cherry Red Records, rewards fans with free travel and a match ticket, along with a pre-match meal.
