AFC Wimbledon players passed on tips to young footballers during the summer holidays – and even joined in the matches!

Lyle Taylor, Egli Kaja, Will Nightingale and Deji Oshilaja made it an extra special day at an AFC Wimbledon Foundation summer holiday course with their appearances proving to be very popular on the day.

AFC Wimbledon Foundation Director Philip Rudling said: "The player appearances were much appreciated by the Foundation, as the kids were very excited to meet and play football with their idols. First-team players also enjoyed joining in the football with the kids and at the course they also handed out medals and signed autographs."

Those children who attended also received a match day ticket for the first home league game for AFC Wimbledon against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.

The summer holiday courses run by the AFC Wimbledon Foundation are now in their final week, but there's still time to get involved!

Children between the ages of 6-13 can simply turn up on any day for the rest of this week at Wimbledon Park to join in the fun. The coaching sessions run from 9.30 am until 3.00 pm.

Once again, this year it has been a tremendous success with children in the community with our Foundation coaches putting on dribbling, passing and shooting tutorials. As part of the course, Dons first-teamers have been attending to offer advice to young footballers.

The Foundation also recently launched its 'Little Kickers' summer holiday course programme for 4-6 year olds. The aim is to focus on improving the basic fundamentals of football, including ball mastery, dribbling and basic game understanding.

In addition, next week the Foundation is introducing a Girls Only Football Week (21-24 August from 10.00 am-11.30 at Wimbledon Park), hosted by coaches Emma O'Connor and Georgia Heasman. The course will take place in a fun and friendly atmosphere, providing girls aged 5- 13 of all abilities with the opportunity to play football.

To sign up for the activities hosted by the AFC Wimbledon Foundation, go to the website , or simply turn up on the day.
