Bayo excited by Dons reunion

Former Dons striker on tomorrow night's match

24 July 2017

Bayo Akinfenwa has kept a close eye on Neal Ardley's squad building for 2017/18 and he is really looking forward to facing his old club tomorrow night.

"The Beast" faces AFC Wimbledon for the first time since leaving us last summer and he's since gone on to become a favourite with Wycombe fans after striking 18 goals last season.

Back from a busy summer that included time spent in Los Angeles shooting a pilot for an upcoming film, Bayo can't wait to meet up with old friends tomorrow.

In an interview for the official Wycombe Wanderers programme, Bayo said: "I've kept in close contact with the Wimbledon lads – we were a very close bunch and became good friends off the pitch, so it'll be good to see them again. I've spoken to Neal Ardley over the summer as well which was nice, and he's assembled a strong team there so it'll be a tough test for us."

Recalling the events of May 2016 and the penalty that sealed promotion for the Dons, Bayo added: "To score at Wembley was priceless and there was no better way for me to sign off as a Wimbledon player. It's the biggest moment of my career, even better than scoring against Liverpool, and I'll never forget it.

"I'm lucky that I always seem to strike up good relationships with the fans at my clubs and that was definitely the case at Wimbledon, so I hope they don't boo me too much! It'll be nice to see them again."

Ticket prices for tomorrow's game are as follows:

Adults (19-59): £10

Seniors (60+): £10

Juniors (18 and under): £5

Please note that it's cash only at the turnstiles, but Dons fans can pay by card at ticket office one.
