Neal Ardley said today that he will offer two midfielders an opportunity on Saturday to stake a claim to be a part of his squad plans.

Dutch defensive midfielder Raoul Esseboom, who has most recently played in Holland for FC Volendam, and former Middlesbrough player Lewis Maloney, are in line to feature in the pre-season friendly at Eastleigh on Saturday.

Speaking during an exclusive interview for our iFollow channel, Neal Ardley said: "We've had lads in who we wanted to take a look at. One or two we have made decisions on and they are not going to play, but there are others who will feature in the games. A young Dutch midfielder Ryan Esseboom, who played for PSV U-23s, and in the Dutch Championship for Volendam for a few seasons, is one of those. He turned down a new contract offer and he wants to come to England and play. He is an athletic, defensive midfielder, who is 6 ft 2 inches tall and good on the ball. He has done quite well in training and we will give him 45 minutes on Saturday, but he is probably a week to 10 days behind the rest of the boys in terms of fitness.

"We have another lad called Lewis Maloney. He has played a few pre-season games for the first-team at Middlesbrough and been playing for the Under-23s. He is one who likes to get on the ball; he has great energy and tempo about his game, very much in the mould of Jake Reeves. Again, Lewis is probably a week behind the rest of the boys. Those two are likely to get game-time, as well as the youngsters."
