Neal confirms second addition

Deji returns to AFC Wimbledon

8 June 2017

By Chris Slavin

We are delighted to confirm that Neal Ardley has made his second addition of the summer by bringing Deji Oshilaja back to AFC Wimbledon.

Deji has committed his future to AFC Wimbledon, his deal commencing on 1st July.

The 24-year-old defender, who has been with Cardiff City since 2009 and worked with Neal Ardley when our manager was in charge of the academy there, enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Wimbledon in 2014/15.

Neal Ardley said: "I know that our fans really took to Deji a couple of seasons ago, he was outstanding when he was here on loan. Deji is a player who I have worked with loads and he will bring a lot of good qualities to the team. He has pace, athleticism and reads the game well. I believe he could be a top centre back and that he could also fill in for us at full-back when needed.

"Deji was our first choice and he covers a lot of areas. Our remit for the summer was to put players into the squad that would leave everyone wondering how they are going to get a place in the team. We feel that so far we've added good players to the squad."

South London-raised Deji made 23 loan appearances for Wimbledon in 2015, scoring one goal against York City, and his performances earned the club's Young Player of the Year award at the end of the season.

Since then, the pacy centre-back has made 55 appearances in two seasons for League One club Gillingham.

All at AFC Wimbledon welcome Deji to the club and we look forward to seeing him back in a Dons shirt.

Keep an eye on our iFollow channel tomorrow for a full in-depth interview with Deji on his return.
