Young footballers visited the training ground ahead of bid to reach national stadium

We wish good luck to footballers from Cheam Common Junior Academy as they bid to reach Wembley today.

In preparation for the regional finals of the EFL 2016/17 Kinder + Sport Kids Cup, the boys visited our training ground to watch the first-team being put through their paces by Neal Ardley.

They then met Neal and his players ahead of their big day and we hope the visit will inspire them to success!

Supported by the English Football League Trust, the competition offers a chance to reach the national stadium and Cheam Common won the tournament organised by the AFC Wimbledon Foundation in November.

Neal Ardley said: “The boys watched a bit of training and spent time with our players. It was great for them to see what goes on at a professional football club, but it’s also great for us to intermingle with different schools and different people in the community. It gets them on board with the AFC Wimbledon story and that’s what we want. Good luck to the boys in the next stage of the competition.”

The national competition sees 10,000 boys from around the country compete for the chance to reach Wembley with the final staged ahead of the Checkatrade Trophy Final in April.
