AFC Wimbledon goalkeeper Joe Bursik is now just 90 minutes away from playing in the UEFA Under-17 European Championship Final after helping England to victory against Ireland today.
A 1-0 quarter-final victory against the Irish in Velika Gorica, Croatia, came courtesy of a stunning first-half goal from Manchester City's Jordan Sancho.
Though England dominated throughout, there was a nervy second-half moment in the 72nd minute. Rowan Roache's corner from the right was flicked goalwards by Joseph Redmond, but Tashan Oakley-Boothe was guarding the near post to make the vital block.
Progression also booked a place as one of Europe's five representatives at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in India this October.
Joe has now kept three clean sheets in a row and he is expected to retain the number one spot in Tuesday's semi-final against Turkey.
